Behold: The People of Walmart

I found the link to this blog in the Consumerist’s comments.

It’s been roughly six years since I’ve set foot in a Walmart and these folks are half of the reason why.  I’ve mentioned this to people who seem genuinely shocked, wondering how a person can survive without patronizing the joint.  It’s pretty easy, although it does require a little adjustment.  One of the best side-effects is that you end up owning a lot less disposable crap.  Oh yeah, and the self-respect.

I asked these same people if they’ve ever come to the end of a weekend and had a nagging feeling that they’ve forgotten to do something, only to realize that they haven’t been to Walmart.  So far, every one of them has said yes, then developed an expression that can only be described as shameful.  The realization that you’re Walmart’s bitch is not a comfortable one.
